The Holiday Heroes Instrument Drive is an annual campaign by JAZZ.FM91 that donates musical instruments to local schools. The campaign is supported by community donations. A total of 182 musical items including 81 instruments were delivered and shared amongst four schools. The schools are Chief Dan George Public School, Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute, Lord Dufferin Public School and Dixon Grove Junior Middle School.

Musical items and instruments donated include drums and percussion instruments (drum kits, cymbals, drum hardware, drum sticks, hand drums, shakers, congas, etc.); brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone, tuba); woodwind instruments (flute, clarinets, saxophones, oboe, bassoon); strings instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass); electronic keyboards, guitars, basses and ukuleles.

We are very happy to partner with JAZZFM.91 on this initiative. To be able to get instruments in the hands of students, especially at a time when budgets can be tight. It opens up a world of opportunity for students. It is also important for students to be able to play, hear and work with others.” Jeffrey Caton, Centrally Assigned Principal, Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement.

I would like to thank JAZZFM.91 and all the partners who have donated. We are deeply appreciative to be one of the schools receiving the donations.” Nicole Aloise, Principal, Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute.

I see music pulling together our school community and elevating the way these students learn on a daily basis. I see friendships being forged and I know they are going to have so many new experiences with the instruments donated to us. We thank you very much.” Nicholas Lall, Teacher, Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute.

This is the 12th edition of the Holiday Heroes Instrument Drive and it is made possible by Long & McQuade Musical Instruments, Ninepoint Partners, Your Advantage and Fireman Movers.
